​“The northern gate”
Botchergate, (or botchardgate as it was once known), is -as any Carlisle resident will tell you- an integral
part of the local culture, with its many pubs, fast food stops and clubs.
What many may not know, is that most of these places have been built on a foundation of hundreds of
years of history.
With this piece, we aim to show a little bit of the street’s charming side, as well as where it gets its
personality from. Be it the American presidents who have family from here, or the kings who have
entered Carlisle through its gates, every brick has a story to tell, and were here to do just that.
